#Action movie fx final cut how to#Opened and applied same MotionVFX template part01Īpplied said template part02, which creates a new timeline, not adding to part01!ĭabbled around a bit and currently all seems fine, but to be honest, I don’t use Motion much and not sure how to join all parts together. Opened new project and applied MotionVFX Template (1472, part1, for some reason the template appears in 4 parts!) Dabbled a little, seemed to be okĪpplied part 2 of said template. I deduced my problems were now due to Motion (Perhaps always) Had to unplug MAC tower for a few moments then restart. All except my back up external drive which is connected via Thunderbolt monitor, seperate power supply. Power off, complete shutdown, armageddon. So, I thought I would use Motion itself to produce the intro and export as a complete file (I have Motion 5)Ĭrash. I could have persevered but it was very frustrating. Then dragged in a MotionVFX template as an intro (I had recently purchased a couple of new ones)Īlthough FCP didn’t freeze or crash, I got the dreaded spinning ball of doom for a few seconds on every action on timeline. Moved assets to my SSD drive where all of my cache and render files are directed to Reran Etracheck, reported as Performance excellent ☺ Looked at Kernel extensions deleted those not needed #Action movie fx final cut 32 bit#Looked at 32 bit apps but there were lots of them, so as they didn’t seem to affect anything, left them alone Trawled Unsigned files and deleted any I know I don’t need anymoreĭeleted downloaded apps I haven’t used for over a year or 2 Trashed all FCP preferences, caches and Libraries I uninstalled FCPX (Not really necessary I know but…) Here is how I whittled down the conclusion. It is not, in fact, FCP that is causing the problem, it is Motion VFX plug-ins. Hi Morten, many thanks for all of this advice and have completed most of the actions and in addition since posting have narrowed down the problem following an Etrecheck report I am at my wits end, so please, any advice would be most appreciated. SSD 1TB, 415 GB available (FCP Cache and Imports) #Action movie fx final cut serial number#Serial Number (processor tray): J510100VSBH8B #Action movie fx final cut pro#I did post the question on the Apple discussions forum and the only response I got was to run Etracheck and post the report, which I did, but no further responses.įinal Cut Pro 10.4.8 with MB Looks, Neat Video as plug-ins. It is difficult to specify any pattern to the issue as it is very complicated and am hesitant to post the crash report here as it is VERY long! What I haven’t done is trash every single Library I have but would be prepared to do so if it gets me out of this mess, I am that desperate! Also I have not uninstalled/reinstalled FCPX as judging by the forum discussions this does not help at all. The first observation was that it took a long time to import the footage (Around 5 mins) Any action I subsequently tried after that then also took a while to complete(Dragging footage to timeline, video appearing in the timeline) and then again when playing, got the dreaded ball of doom and had to force quit. I then decided to try a completely new project, again with background render off and trashing preferences on opening FCP. I followed every resolution I could find, trashing preferences, turning off background render, et al. Once again the background render froze and caused the dreaded Final Cut Not Responding. This time I thought it may have been due to LUT as I applied colour variations. After trying several options from advice forums the problem persisted so I abandoned that project and moved on.Ĭompleted one other simple project okay so I put it down to corrupt files, but then on a new project the problem occurred again. It started with a small project that kept freezing with background rendering, I lost video but audio was heard on skimming and the only way to get video back on was to toggle the V, but then the issue would repeat when I tried to play/edit. I have had a problem with FCPX for a few weeks now.
